Zerek
Human mind in a half formed demon's body: Unfinished Demon
After Zerek's death, he woke up in Purgatory.
Quickly greeted by a demon that calls itself ' Grieve'. Grieve, a torture demon designed to pluck recently deceased souls from the black waters of purgatory, and turn them into demons as well. Eventually the human to demon soul is released into Hell, finally able to live out the rest of it's existence wandering the endless realm of the dead.
This would have been Zerek's fate, but his still living Girlfriend, Astasia, had other plans...
Despite her efforts to bring him back to life via a summoning spell, Grieve had already warped Zerek's mortal soul into something unrecognizable to his past self. He had lost most of the memories of his time alive, and only knew the pain that he'd live through for so many years. Zerek recoiled from Astasia's magics as she called out to him, begging him to return to her. In turn, Grieve got in the way of Astasia's summoning spell, halting her grip on Zerek's soul and pulling Grieve out of Hell instead.
Her plan was not a complete failure, however. Astasia's efforts to save Zerek from death may have been foiled, but she had successfully saved him from being turned into a full demon. Once Grieve's presence was gone from his torture chambers in Hell, the gate leading into the rest of the Hell realm was unlocked, allowing Zerek to escape his prison and enter into a strange, and often horrific, new world.
With no memories to call his own, and no knowledge of the world he now resided in, Zerek wandered through Hell aimlessly... that is, until he meets a cheerful and sarcastic demon named Akyro
With Akyro's guidance, and knowledge of the Hell realm, Zerek traverses through unique and dangerous landscape, in search of purpose, at first, and an understanding of who exactly it is that he has become- or what has he become. For he is not demon, nor human. A half breed completely unknown to all other demons in the realm.
He learns from Akyro that a human in Hell is unheard of (not exactly impossible, however). Demons that discover his human soul still in tact, desire it as their own. Wishing to possess Zerek and warp his fragile soul into that of their own design, much like the Torture demons can do, that ONLY torture demons can do... until now.
After many perils and dangerous encounters with monstrous demons such as The Mother, and the creatures known as Shadow Leeches, Zerek and Akyro eventually stumble upon a run down shack of a castle during a strong storm.
It isn't long until Zerek comes face to face with one of Hell's strongest and most violent demons- One of the four fire lord kings of Hell: Phayne.
It is here that he is exposed to yet another douse of fire magic. The first being Zathura's fire magic at the time of Zerek's birth in the life realm. Phayne's fire is one that acts as a heated poison throughout his body. When Phayne gains hold of Zerek's soul he uses it to contact Grieve within the life realm. Phayne's interest in acquiring Grieve (the demon that creates other demons) blinds him to the fact that Akyro had come to rescue Zerek from the fire lords' clutches.
The two escape Phayne's castle, but not without first rescuing a third member to their party. A side project that Phayne had been experimenting with in his down time: a woman by the name of Nala. An angel of the death realm of Heaven.
Zerek is starstruck by her radiance and auras. She is unlike anything he's ever seen, and she gives him hope that there is a way out of Hell.
However, Akyro begins to quickly notice the rift opening between him and Zerek due to Nala's presence in their trio, he grows jealous as the three of them trek towards an empty portal gate of Hell, in hopes of returning to the realm of life.
While they pass through a small city atop cliffs overlooking a vast desert, Nala is dragged off by a giant demonic bird, flying her out over the desert and towards a castle belong to yet another Fire Lord: Garanzo.
Zerek attempts to run to her aid, but before he can traverse through the sands, Akyro stops him, claiming that her kidnapping was a good thing. Zerek refuses to leave the angel behind, and Akyro lets slip that he was the one that called for the attack on Nala, but he didn't know the bird belonged to a fire lord. There is now nothing either of them could do to save her from his clutches now, the demon king was too powerful.
Feeling betrayed by a close friend, Zerek turns his back on Akyro, refusing to allow Nala to fall into the hands of another tormentor- remembering his own torment with Grieve all too well.
It is then, however, that Akyro attacks Zerek. In an attempt to stop him from a suicide mission, and also due to his own possessive demon nature, the two fight atop the cliff overlooking the desert sands below.
The brawl ends abruptly when Zerek kicks Akyro over the cliff to an untimely demise, leaving the half human on his own once more.
Stricken with guilt after destroying his friend, and afraid of the events that were sure to come, Zerek followed the looming shadows towards the castle in the sand in order to rescue Nala from certain doom...
